Dr. Aafia's Trial to Start on Oct. 19.
 Now more than ever Dr. Aafia needs your active support! Time is running out to mount an effective legal defense.
In order to truly help Dr. Aafia, a thorough investigation of the facts and a solid legal team need to be secured, both of these need funding.
At the moment Dr. Aafia is at the mercy of the government appointed lawyers who are severely restricted in terms of experience, funding, and independent action.

 Confused about the facts? Looking for a reliable source for information about Dr. Aafia? The Siddiqui family has put together an online resource to allow the public to see the case through their eyes.
Unexplained detention, suffering and isolation have too long been this family's burden. Justice, humane treatment and due process are luxuries long denied to Aafia and her young children, replaced with abuse and imprisonment without formal charges. So today, we ask for all that is left, to pick up the pieces...

MLFA Fundraiser in NY
 The main problem is the confusion surrounding Dr. Aafia' case: confusion leads to doubt, doubt leads to fear, and fear leads to inaction.
Our first task therefore is to publicize facts, expose deliberate disinformation by certain quarters, and inform and involve Pakistani-Americans and fair-minded fellow Americans.
To that end, we have held forums in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Chicago. Now we have scheduled a series of educational forums and fundraising events in New York, Michigan, Virginia and Missouri, among other places.

Today Dr. Aafia's Son, Ahmad Gave His First TV Interview
Dr. Aafia's eldest son, the only accounted for child gave an exclusive interview today on WAQT TV Pakistan.
To this day Dr. Aafia's two younger children Maryum and Suleman are missing.
In March 2003 Dr. Aafia and all three of her children were abducted in Karachi, Pakistan.

On July 17, 2008, men coming from evening prayers at the Bazazi Mosque in Ghazni, a provincial capital south of Kabul, paused when they saw a woman outside the building. They formed a circle around the stranger, who was wearing a blue burqa. She was cowering on the ground, with two small bags at her side, holding the hand of a boy of about 12. One of the men, fearing that this peculiar woman could be carrying a bomb under her burqa, called the police.

Dr. Aafia's Ex-husband Sued for Defamation
 Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, (Aafia's sister) a former director of the epilepsy program at the John Hopkins University in the US, has sued her former brother-in-law, Dr. Amjad Khan, and accused him of making false and baseless statements against her in media with regard to photographs of her sister. Dr. Khan had said that Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui had arranged for pictures of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in "various poses" and had handed them over to the media to gain sympathy.

Associated Press of Pakistan - Govt making strong efforts for release of Dr Aafia: PM
ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday assured Dr Fauzia Siddiqui that his government would make every possible effort for the release of her sister Dr Aafia Siddiqui, detained in the United States. The Prime Minister said the government had already approved US $ two million to hire a three-member panel of lawyers for Dr Aafia Siddiqui in consultation and consent of her elder brother Muhammad Ali Siddiqui. Gilani expressed the hope that Dr Afia Siddiqui and her family members would fully cooperate with the team of new lawyers to prepare a strong case in her defence.

They fed them well. The Pakistani tribesmen slaughtered a sheep in honor of their guests, Arabs and Chinese Muslims famished from fleeing U.S. bombing in the Afghan mountains. But their hosts had ulterior motives: to sell them to the Americans, said the men who are now prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
Bounties ranged from $3,000 to $25,000, the detainees testified during military tribunals, according to transcripts the U.S. government gave The Associated Press to comply with a Freedom of Information lawsuit.

$2 Million approved to hire lawyers for Dr. Aafia: Gilani
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said his government has approved $2 million to hire a three-member lawyers panel in consultation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's elder brother. The prime minister was talking to Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui, Dr. Aafia's sister at the Prime Minister's House. The premier assured Dr Fouzia that the government would do its best to get the Pakistani-born scientist released from US detention. The PM informed Dr. Aafia's sister about the government's efforts, at all levels, to get Dr. Aafia released.

 Dr. Aafia will be spending Ramadan in solitary confinement. She has still not been authorized visitation by family since her return to MDC in New York.
However, one thing we all can do is to write to her or send her books to ease the misery of solitary confinement. Ramadan and Eid cards may be vey helpful.

Protest for Dr. Aafia Release Held Outside Quaid's Mausoleum
 Saturday, August 15, 2009 KARACHI: A protest camp was set up outside the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah here on the eve of Independence Day, in protest against the early release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi from US custody wherein thousands of people signed demanding the early release of the aforesaid detainee. Human Rights Networks (HRN), a human right organization hosted the camp while another camp from International Dr. Aafia Release Campaign (IDARC) was also staged near Numaish Chowrangi. Here too, thousands of people marked their signatures on the registers, urging upon the government for the early release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi from US custody. Speakers on the occasion, said US has kept Dr. Aafia Siddiqi for many years and she is being tortured, rendering many sever damages to her health and mentality. They also urged entire nation to forge unity for her early release.
